Perhaps the beautiful game is hiding some solutions? After all, George Weah is now the President of Liberia, Andriy Shevchenko is a politician in Ukraine and Romário was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in Brazil in 2010 and became a senator in 2014.
For Issue Two of GAFFER, I pitched an idea that explored the crossing of boundaries between politics and football. I wrote a series of articles around the future leaders who could transition from pitch to podium. England and Lyon star, Nikita Parris, was the perfect candidate.
