According to charity Mind, one in four people now experience a mental health issue each year. It’s a subject that has never really been taken seriously until recently. But issues like anxiety are one of the greatest health challenges for future generations. I interviewed and wrote a piece around England and Leicester star, James Maddison, about the mental pressure experienced by footballers.
What separates Maddison is not only his skill and talent but the way he actually revels in pressure. From making his Leicester debut in front of 75,000 at Old Trafford, to using a huge £25m transfer fee as motivation, not suffocation. This is an English player who actually enjoys penalties.
